About Peter
Peter is married to Natalie and father of two young adults who attended
Dufferin-Peel schools. Peter and family have lived in Mississauga for 30
years and have been actively involved in their community.
Peter has over thirty years of professional experience in immigration
law. This encompasses offering specialized consulting and
paralegal services in immigration matters. His experience comes
from the private and public sector. Since 1986 Peter has been a
self-employed paralegal/consultant with Ferreira and Koach.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from York
University. He has received numerous awards and recognitions
including the Governor General of Canada Commemorative Medal and the
City of Mississauga Civic Award.
Peter has significant experience in the following areas: immigration
and legal matters, education, police services, community and social
services, health and arts and culture. His core skills and
competencies include legal expertise, governance, chairing
meetings/leading committees, facilitation and public speaking. He is
fluent in Portuguese and conversant in Spanish.
Peter has a great deal of prior community experience having served on
the Dufferin-Peel DistrictSchool Board as
Trustee and Chairman up until December 2006. He is also Past
Chairman of the Mississauga Library Services, Director Ontario Mental
Health Foundation, President of the First Portuguese Canadian Cultural
Centre, National President of the Portuguese Canadian National Congress,
Director of Mississauga Crime Prevention Association, and is currently
President of the Canadian Ethnocultural Council, Member of the
Toronto Police Service Chief's Advisory Council and Canadian Blood
Services.
